Olympic archer Peter Boukouvalas inducted into local sporting hall of fame in Sydney

Australian Olympic archer Peter Boukouvalas was recently inducted into the Bankstown Sporting Hall of Fame.

On Tuesday September 3, the City of Canterbury Bankstown held a major event to induct 28 sporting legends into the Hall of Fame.

The Bankstown Sporting Hall of Fame first started in 1988, and this was the first induction of athletes since 2013.

Boukouvalas just returned from the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, which was a dream come true for the Greek Australian.

The Sydney Trains employee watched the 2004 Athens Games on television alongside his yiayia and papou and that was how he discovered archery.

He attended St Euphemia College in Bankstown and is affiliated with the Sydney Olympic Park Archers club, where he began his archery journey.

The 25-year-old is currently ranked 67th in the world, with a highest ranking of 44th achieved on February 12 this year.

At the 2023 Pacific Games, he won a silver medal in the individual event and in the same year also earned a bronze medal in the team event at the Asian Grand Prix Circuit.
