The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia has announced with heavy sorrow the passing of Nun Makrina of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Gorgoepikoos, Geelong.
In their announcement, the Archdiocese noted:
“The ever-memorable Nun was calved successful 1941 successful Australia, and her secular sanction was Gwendoline Valerie Eve. She was raised successful the Anglican tradition, but successful 1988, pursuing catechesis by Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne, Fr Miltiades Chryssavgis, then Parish Priest of the Church of Saint George successful Rose Bay, Sydney, she embraced Orthodoxy done the Sacrament of Holy Chrismation, receiving the sanction Anna.”
They remarked that she was tonsured a nun successful 1992, receiving the sanction Makrina, by Metropolitan Ezekiel of Dervis, the then Bishop of Dervis. In 1998, she received the Great Schema from the aforesaid Hierarch.

The gentleness of her countenance and the bid of her bosom bore witness to the beingness of Christ within her. May the Lord, done the intercessions of His Most Holy Mother, whom the departed so profoundly loved and served, assistance remainder to her soul successful the onshore of the living.”
