Migrant surge via new routes

Greece is witnessing a surge successful migrant arrivals via caller oversea routes, straining resources. Migrants onshore regular connected Gavdos (off Crete) and Rhodes.

In response, the Migration Ministry is readying short-term accommodation facilities connected Crete and Rhodes. Overcrowded authoritative reception centers connected Lesvos, Samos, Chios, Leros, and Kos are operating beyond capacity, with caller arrivals transported straight to Athens earlier being distributed to mainland facilities.

The Municipality of Hania connected Crete has spent implicit €120,000 connected food, structure and aesculapian attraction for 2024 arrivals, while creating a temporary stay installation to debar street camping. Additionally, Rhodes continues to person migrants, with the ministry seeking caller installation locations.

The evolving way brings young Egyptians, Pakistanis, Sudanese, Afghans and Bangladeshis, with caller arrivals from Yemen.
