Greek Australians honour Oxi Day as Oakleigh prepares for a weekend of festivities

The Greek assemblage of Australia commemorated the nationalist day of October 28, 1940, paying tribute to Greece’s historical “Oxi” and to each who fought for state and dignity.

Across Melbourne, a bid of memorial events, religion services, parades and schoolhouse ceremonies were held successful caller days, bringing together students, families, educators, assemblage organisations and dignitaries from crossed the Greek-Australian diaspora.

At Oakleigh Grammar, students marked the juncture with a commemorative assembly and presentations honouring the courageousness and sacrifice of the Greek radical during the Second World War.
