"Greek society's anxious desire for a solution and to be rid of Kyriakos Mitsotakis is what motivates us all," stated opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Sokratis Famellos in an interview with Thessaloniki Municipal Radio FM 100 on Monday.
"Mitsotakis and New Democracy’s policies are the real opponents - not the other progressive parties. And I say this also in the context of the logic of cooperation, which SYRIZA consistently proposes, but which both [main opposition PASOK-KINAL leader Nikos] Androulakis and the leadership refuse," he noted.
Famellos also stated that SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance has the most reliable political proposal of all the parties of the opposition and its strengthening is the only guarantee that things will go better for the country.
Regarding the issue that arose with the Monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai, he pointed out that there was a "serious problem" and that the government bears "huge" responsibility.
As for the Foreign Affairs Minister George Gerapetritis, he emphasised that "he is now scrambling, after the fact, to cover up weaknesses in foreign policy."
As he said, he will submit a proposal to the President of the Parliament that a cross-party committee visit the Monastery of Saint Catherine.
