ATHEX: Blue chips see pressure continue

The volatility of the planetary markets, marked connected Monday by the small displacement distant from stocks and into bonds, led to small losses for the main scale of the Athens stock market, with the lowest turnover of the past 10 weeks.

The firm results released domestically tend to offset the unit from abroad, arsenic buying involvement trickles down to mid- and small-caps, hence Monday’s beforehand for the mid-cap index.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) wide scale closed astatine 1,701.84 points, shedding 0.22% from Friday’s 1,705.61 points. The large-cap FTSE-25 scale contracted 0.32%, ending astatine 4,212.32 points, though mid-caps expanded 0.49%.

The banks scale declined 0.66%, arsenic Alpha gave up 1.74%, Piraeus conceded 1.20%, Eurobank eased 0.28% and National slipped with 0.15%, while Optima precocious 0.76%. Ellaktor slumped 4.44%, arsenic Jumbo roseate 2.04%.

In total 53 stocks secured gains, 56 endured losses and 13 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 100.2 cardinal euros, down from past Friday’s €133.8 million.

In Nicosia the wide scale of the Cyprus Stock Exchange accrued 0.45% to adjacent astatine 233.94 points.
